The Interior Ministry of Tajikistan has accused the Prague-based Tajikistan-focused independent website of lying.  The ministry says a report released by it at the end of last week does not correspond to the facts.

In a statement issued in the evening of March 13, the Interior Ministry notes that the Prague-based website akhbor.com on March 10 released a report that a clash has allegedly taken place between Tajik and Uzbek vendors in the Tajik northern city of Konibodom.

“Tajik vendors allegedly expressed discontent with the fact that Uzbek vendors were selling their goods for lower prices and began brawl,” the statement says.

The Interior Ministry says the report by akhbor-com does not correspond to the facts.  No incidents have been reported after reopening of the border crossing points on the Tajik-Uzbek border, according to the statement.
