The World Bank’s Doing Business report compares business regulation environments across economies and encourages them to compete towards more efficient regulation.

Tajikistan fell three spots in the World Bank’s 2019 Doing Business report, which ranks Tajikistan 126th among 190 countries analyzed.    

Compared to last year, Tajikistan has reportedly worsened its positions on seven out of 10 indicators: 

- Starting business (60th place – fell three spots);

- Paying taxes (135th place – fell four spots);

- Enforcing contracts (61st place – fell seven spots); 

- Protecting investors (38th place – fell five spots);

- Getting credits (124th place – fell two spots);

- Getting electricity (173rd place – fell two spots);

- Registering property (91st place – fell one spot)  

Meanwhile, Tajikistan improved its rating in resolving insolvency (146th place – climbed two spots), trading across borders (148th place – climbed one spot), and dealing with construction permits (135th place – climbed one spot).
