Representatives of Tajikistan attended the Third Regional Meeting of the Central Asian Working Group for Promotion of Quality Standards in Central Asia that took place in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek from November 12 to November 13.  The meeting participants also included representatives Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

According to the European Union Delegation to Tajikistan, the meeting participants discussed further cooperation plans and produce a coordinated approach on promotion of commercial standards and quality of agricultural produces in the region.

The participants of the meeting reportedly summed up the results of work completed for the period of 2017 -2018, reviewed the set of projects on explanatory materials for fresh and dried agricultural products, and developed strategy and plans of joint activities to increase knowledge of UNECE Standards among producers, processors and exporters.

Representatives of relevant state institutions (standard agencies, ministries of economy and agriculture of RT, KR, RU and RK), business intermediary associations, as well the private sector - producers, processors and exporters of dried fruits of the region participated in the Regional Working Group Meeting.

The meeting was organized by the Hilfswerk International in the framework of the project, Advanced Support Program to Central Asian Business Intermediary Organizations – Specialized and Integrated Services for Export-Oriented Food Processing SMEs - CANDY – IV, funded by the program of the European Union "Central Asia - Invest IV" together with the UNDP Regional project “Wider Europe: Aid for trade for Central Asia" funded by the Government of Finland and the Regional Program of GIZ “Trade Facilitation in Central Asia”.
