Three residents of Rasht district (eastern Tajikistan) have got lengthy jail terms for the 20-year-old murder.  

The Supreme Court has sentenced Madad Yatimov, Ibrohim Qahhorov and Saidmurod Abdurahmonov to lengthy prison terms.  The sentence followed their conviction on charge of murder.

Madad Yatimov was sentenced to 22 years in prison while Ibrohim Qahhorov and Saidmurod Abdurahmonov were sentenced to 20 years in prison each.  They will serve their terms in a high-security penal colony.

According to the press center of the Prosecutor-General’s Office, in October 1998, they killed Akbar Mahmadov, resident of the village of Yaldamich in Rasht district.   They reportedly shot him with Kalashnikov assault rifle.
