President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the Jaihun area in the south of the republic opened a new border post and took part in the ceremony of commissioning a new substation "Geran-2".

This morning the president of the republic left for the region of Jaihun (former Kumsangir) of Khatlon region, the presidential press service reported.

There the president took part in the ceremony of commissioning a new border outpost "Somon", which was built on the territory of two hectares with the financing of OJSC "Tajikcement".

In the Jaihun region, Emomali Rahmon also took part in the ceremony of commissioning a new 220/110/10 kilovolt substation “Geran-2”.

It was reported that this substation was built within the framework of the Regional Electric Power Transmission Project on the basis of the Grant Agreement signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank on September 16, 2010.

"The building of the control of the substation "Geran-2" is equipped with modern equipment, all the devices of the substation are controlled by computer technology. First of all, is to expand and renew the power transmission system in the southern part of the Republic of Tajikistan, which contributes to the regional electricity trade". The press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.

On the other hand, this modern facility plays an important role in reducing the loss of electricity and improving the reliability of electricity supply in the southern region of Tajikistan.

The new substation "Geran-2" is located on an area of 7 hectares, on its construction as a whole spent more than 21 million 500 thousand dollars.

Two 220-kV power transmission lines of the Geran-2 substation are connected to the Sangtuda-1 HPP and one 220 kV line to the “Kolhozobod” substation.

Also, the two-circuit 220 kV transmission line and one 110 kV transmission line are exporting the electricity generated by Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

It was stressed that after commissioning of this facility, the reliability of providing the population of the districts of Jaihun, Panj, Dusti and Jaloliddin Rumi with electricity.
