KHUJAND, May 25, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Spoiled food products for a total amount of 115,000 somoni (equivalent to some 25,000 U.S. dollars) have been destroyed at the city dump in Khujand, Sughd province.
The source at the office of Tojikstandart (state agency for standardization, certification, metrology and trade inspection) for Sughd says more than 56,000 expired canned fishes and 1,400 boxes of expired confectionery were destroyed at the city dump yesterday.
According to him, the spoiled food products were destroyed in the presence of a special commission that consisted of epidemiologists, environmentalists, customs officers and veterinarians.
