The Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe has convened a signing ceremony of two new projects financed by the Government of Japan for the total amount of USD 180,064.

The two new projects, funded under the scheme of Japan`s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) are:

- “The Project for Reconstruction of Building of Secondary School No.94 in Jangalodbod Village, Guliston Jamoat, Vahdat City”, signed with Mr. Rahmonali Amirzoda, Chairperson of Vahdat City, for the amount of US$ 90,118;

- “The Project for Construction of New Building of Secondary School No.31 in Qaroshura Village, Mukus Jamoat, Lakhsh District”, signed with Mr. Faizullo Barotzoda, Chairperson of Lakhsh District, for the amount of US$ 89,946.

During the ceremony high-level representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe affirmed the friendly relationship between Tajikistan and Japan, and emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to support Tajik people from human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing socioeconomic development projects that will lead to development of the living conditions in rural areas.

Embracing the occasion, the grant recipients expressed their gratitude to the Government and the people of Japan for their support and ensured that all the determined project goals will be achieved.

Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in addressing development needs in the areas such as education, health, water supply and the environment.  GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level.  As of today, GGP has supported 389 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan, for which more than US$ 31.5 million has been provided since 1996.
