The Interior Ministry of Tajikistan denies rumors about sale of donkey meat in Dushanbe as absolutely ‘unfounded’.

Such rumors have been spread in some social networks, according to the Interior Ministry’s official website.

Police have reportedly launched a thorough investigation and conducted a number of raids but no cases of sale of donkey meat have been revealed.

Recall, alarm over sale of donkey meat has been raised in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.  Uzbek media reports noted in early December last year that the Prosecutor-General's Office of Uzbekistan has informed about the complaint against the use of donkey meat in sausage shop in Tashkent

According to UzReport news agency, during the joint operations conducted by the administrations of the city of Tashkent and Khorezm region, it was found that LLC "GOLD PREMIUM PRODUCT", located in the Almazar district of Tashkent delivered 69.6 kg of donkey meat from Khorezm to Tashkent, to use it in the production of meat products under the brand name "Sharshara".  The workers of the shop had reportedly mixed the specified meat with other meat products.  As a result, 275 kg of meat in the shop was seized in the prescribed manner.
