For the first time, journalists from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Russia will celebrate the “3 May: World Press Freedom Day” together.

Journalists from the Central Asian countries will gather in Dushanbe within the framework of the international conference "Freedom of Speech: Opportunities and Perspectives in the Region,” on May 3 2018 at Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel.

According to the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, the event is conducted with the initiative of the OSCE Programme Office and the Tajik Media Council.  150 Tajik and international journalists are expected to attend the event. Among the guests of the conference, there will also be high-ranking representatives of the Government and the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan.

This year, the participants of the conference will focus on three thematic areas: freedom of speech: risk for security or a ground for development and stability?; freedom of speech in the context of modern legislation in the countries of Central Asia; and freedom of speech, new opportunities and perspectives (code of conduct for online media).
