DUSHANBE , August 1, Asia-Plus - A total debt of consumers for water to the Dushanbe municipal waterworks (Dushanbevodokanal or DVK) has amounted to 14 million Somonis, according to information from the municipal waterworks.

The DVK source says the rate of the collection of funds from the public for water is very low – only 15%-16%.  The rate of the collection of funds from enterprises and organizations has amounted to some 70%, according to the source.

One of reasons for such a low rate of the collection of funds is a shortage of personnel at the sales department.   “By a list of members of staff 150 people should work with this department, while actually it has been manned only for 60 percent,” the DVK source said.

The new administration of the DVK pays a great attention to this problem, and the first move in this direction is recruiting new personnel, according to the Asia-Plus interlocutor.

“At present residents of the residential buildings connected to the centralized water supply system should monthly pay 0.51 Somonis per each member of family, and residents of the private houses should monthly pay 0.42 Somoni per each member of family,” the source said.

As it had been reported earlier, Behrouz Safarov was relieved of the post of head of the Dushanbe municipal waterworks on July 24 for failing to implement his duties.  He was replaced by Azam Tabarov, who previously headed the Dushanbe heating system.
