QURGHON TEPPA, August 8, Asia-Plus -- Raising awareness of elections standrds among population and Tajikistan ’s law on presidential election were the aims of a two-day seminar, which ended in Qurghon Teppa yesterday.

Participants of the seminar staged by the Khatlon Hukumat (local government), Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Refernda (CCER) and the OSCE Center in Dushanbe included representatives from the city’s enterprises and organizations and public associations.   

Ms. Marifat Khidiraliyeva, chairperson of the NGO “Marifat”, which was one of organizers of the seminar, has told Asia-Plus that participants in the seminar discussed issues related to the country’s law on presidential elections, democratic principles of election process, as well as a role of local and international observers.  The seminar participants focused on the various views and approaches used to define these principles.  

“Smiliar seminars were conducted in Vakhshm Bokhtar, Kolkhozobod and Qumsangir districts,” said Ms. Khidiraliyeva, “An within the next few days, the semiliar seminars will be conducted in Sarband and jomi as well.”
