More than 1,000 Kazakh citizens left Xinjiang, where inter-ethnic clashes are ongoing, the spokesman of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
"On the whole, above 1,000 Kazakh nationals left Xingjiang during the last 2 days," he said.
Staff of the Kazakh Embassy provides all possible assistance to Kazakh citizens.
"Despite the situation, many Kazakh citizens refused to leave Xinjiang," he said, but could not name the exact number of such citizens.
