DUSHANBE, June 6, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- Internationally known Tajik athlete Rasoul Boqiyev has won gold medal in the World Judo World Cup Men 2011, finishing first in the 73kg weight category.  The tournament was held in Bucharest, Romania from June 4 to June 5, 2011.

Shirinjon Mamadsafoyev, the Secretary General of Tajikistan’s national Olympic Committee (NOC), says that due to this victory Rasoul Boqiyev is now ranked among top twenty judokas of the world in his weight category.

“Tomorrow, Rasoul Boqiyev will depart for Tallinn to participate in the next round of the World Judo Cup Men that will open there on June 9,” said Mamadsafoyev, “Besides Rasoul Boqiyev, three other Tajik judo fighters also participate in this round of the World Judo Cup Men – Muhammad Abdurahmonov, Parviz Sobirov and Farhod Rahimov.”

In August, Rasoul Boqiyev will participate in the World Judo Championships in Paris.  This highest level of international judo competition will be held in France from August 23 to August 28.

Rasoul Boqiyev plans to enter top eight judokas of the world this year that will give him good chances at the upcoming London 2012 Olympics, the NOC secretary general said.
