DUSHANBE, February 17, Asia-Plus - A large amount of drugs was seized in a joint operation carried out by Tajik border guards and the Interior Ministry’s department for combating drug trafficking (drug police) in Farkhor district of Khatlon on the night of February 16-17.
Tajik drug police chief Fazyullo Gadoyev has told Asia-Plus a group of Afghan drug traffickers were trying to illegally crossing the border river in Farkhor late Thursday. When the border guards tried to detain the trespassers, the last opened fire at them.
As a result of skirmish one Drug trafficker was detained, according to him. 60 packages containing some 60 kilograms of heroin and some 10 kilograms of raw opium were found on the spot. Investigation is under way.
