DUSHANBE , March 30, Asia-Plus - On Thursday March 30, President Rahmonov and OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht, discussed in Dushanbe prospects of further exapnsion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) as well as exchanged views on a broad range of issues.    

After the meeting, Karel De Gucht told journalists that in the course of the talks it was stressed that OSCE would pay equal attention to work with Tajikistan in the three dimensions – political-military, economic and environmental dimension and the human dimension – in future as well.     

On cooperation in the military sphere, the OSCE head said that President Rahmonov had called it effective, especially on projects aimed at helping rid Tajikistan of surplus explosives and conventional ammunition.   

“Besides, the president proposed to draft a project for cooperation in the area of border control,” said Karel De Gucht, “We will consider these issues and submit them for consideration to the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna .”  

On the economic cooperation, Karel De Gucht noted that President Rahmonov had proposed to increase a number of projects.
