Update: President Rahmonov observes final stage of Tajik-Russian military exercise at Lohur training ground

Lohur, April 5, Asia-Plus - A three-day Tajik-Russian joint military exercise conducted at the Lohur training ground is ending today.
President Emomali Rahmonov and Defense Minister Sherali Khairulloyev today arrived in Lohur to observe the final stage of the ongoing war game.
As it had been reported earlier, the military exercise with practice shoot began at the Lohur training ground in
Tajikistan
, some 30 kilometers southwest of
Dushanbe
, on April 3. Colonel Aleksey Zavizyon, commander of the Russian military base in
Tajikistan
, is in overall command of the exercise, which has involved more than 800 Russian and Tajik troops, tanks, artillery and helicopters.
The purpose of the drill is in improving combat coordination and sharpening anti-terror skills.
The exercise scenario is based on an armed group of international terrorists infiltrating into
territory

. Sub-units of the Russian military base in
Tajikistan
and Tajik Ministry of Defense (MoD) have warded off the attack, using anti-aircraft units for shooting down terrorists’ helicopters and missile launchers for destroying terrorists’ column.
