DUSAHNBE, April 7, Asia-Plus - Dushanbe Mayor, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday signed a resolution raising public transport fares in the Tajik capital beginning on April 10.

According to information from the Dushanbe mayor’s office, the fixed-route tax fare will rise from 0.30 Somoni to 0.40 Somonis, the trolleybus fare will rise from 0.10 Somonis to 0.30 Somoni, and the bus fare will rise from 0.20 Somonis to 0.40 Somoni.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, has told Asia-Plus increase in the public transport fares has resulted from decreasing profitability of activity of “Dushanbegorpastrans” (Dushanbe passenger transport structures), which is currently incurring serious losses.

The Dushanbe passenger transport service leadership will host a press conference to give further details of this decision, according to the mayoral spokesman.
