On September 2, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of China Xi Jinping in Beijing, where they discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including within the framework of international and regional organizations, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.
Emomali Rahmon highly appreciated Xi Jinping's contribution to the expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
He stressed that despite the difficult geopolitical conditions, the SCO continues to make a significant contribution to ensuring security, stability and the development of mutually beneficial interstate relations.
The President of Tajikistan supported the Global Governance initiative proposed by Xi Jinping, noting its consistency with the Tajik side's efforts to strengthen the rule of law, peace, security and sustainable development, as well as its significant potential to achieve common goals.
The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the improvement of cooperation mechanisms in the "Central Asia-China" format.
Special attention was paid to expanding partnership in the fields of economics, digitalization, development of transport infrastructure and logistics, effective use of transit opportunities, as well as attracting Chinese investments and technologies into the economy of Tajikistan.
The creation of data centers, strengthening cybersecurity, and the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies are among the promising areas. Cooperation in the field of hydropower remains one of the priority issues, the report says.
The parties recognized the importance of developing interregional ties, as well as expanding contacts in the fields of culture, education, science, technology and tourism.
It was noted that Tajikistan and China have similar positions in ensuring security and countering modern challenges and threats.
