Despite the fact that only crossing point on the Tajik-Chinese border has been temporarily closed and flights between the two countries have been suspended, Chinese goods are being delivered to Tajikistan through the third countries, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Tojiddin Jourazoda, told reporters in Dushanbe today.

“Some Chinese goods are delivered to the third countries through sea ports, and from there they are delivered to Tajikistan,” Jourazoda noted.

“However, Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover is quote diversified,” said the deputy minister.  “Today, we have trade relations with more than 100 countries.”

Jourazoda emphasized that China last year accounted for 14.6 percent of Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover.

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, China last year was one of major trading partners of Tajikistan, following Russia and Kazakhstan.

The two-way trade between Tajikistan and China last year reportedly valued at more than 660 million U.S. dollars.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s imports from China estimated at more than 605 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s exports to China worth 55 million U.S. dollars.
