The Government of Tajikistan plans to earmark about 6.7 million somoni in the coming five years for development of handicrafts in the country.  It is also planned to attract additional funds from other sources.   

This is outlined in the national handcrafts development program designed for 2021-2025.  

In accordance with the plan of actions, budget funds are allocated to support logistics the centers for national and modern handicrafts, organize training for employees of these centers, create database system, conduct various surveys, launch special websites and Internet-shops as well as outlet and shops in the regions for the sale of handicraft products, and so forth.

Recall, it was instructed at the end of September to establish a Handicrafts Coordination Council under the Government of Tajikistan, which is dedicated to coordinate activities of relevant ministries and agencies as well as local governments on implementing state policy in the field of handcrafts.  

2019-2021 are declared years of development of rural areas, tourism and folk crafts in Tajikistan.
