During his visit to South Korea, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on November 25 met with Mr. Pyung-oh Kwon, CEO of the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the parties discussed issues related to attracting investments in Tajikistan, increasing bilateral trade, opening a KOTRA office in Dushanbe, as well as ways to strengthen and develop trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Tajik side reportedly called for the intensification of the presence of Korean investment and trade circles in Tajikistan and the signing of the necessary cooperation documents in the field of trade in order to strengthen business ties for the development of cooperation in the free economic zones of Tajikistan.

KOTRA (Korea Trade Promotion Corporation initially, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency since 1995) is a state-funded trade and investment promotion organization operated by the Government of South Korea.  KOTRA was established in 1962 as a national trade promotion organization.  Since then, it has facilitated Korea's rapid export-led economic development through various trade promotion activities.

In order to execute its mandates more efficiently, KOTRA has opened an extensive worldwide network of overseas Korea Trade Centers (KTC).
