Water level of Lake Sarez that increased up to two meters last year remains the same, says emergencies minister

Lake
Sarez
increased up to two meters in 2005, Emergencies Minister Mirzo Ziyoyev told journalists on January 24.
He added that the water level has not yet decreased to the previous level so far. Commenting on the situation in the
Lake
Sarez
area, the minister noted that seven new springs had appeared at the lake’s dam.
“Geologists who worked on the
Lake
Sarez
have come to a conclusion that presently there is no threat of discharge of water from the lake,” Mr. Ziyoyev noted.
“On the expiry of two years, the equipment will be handed over to jurisdiction of the Tajik Ministry of Emergency Situations,” the minister noted.
