DUSAHNBE, May 12, Asia-Plus - Two Tajik border guards were killed and one other was injured on the night of May 11-12 as unknown armed people attacked border-crossing checkpoint in Isfara.

Two Tajik border guards were killed and one other was wounded on the night of May 11-12 as unknown armed people attacked a border-crossing checkpoint “Lakon” on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border in the northern district of Isfara.

According to information from the Ministry of Interior (MoI), an armed group numbering more than six people burst into the Isfara district from the Kyrgyz territory and attacked the Tajik border-crossing checkpoint “Lakon”.   As a result of skirmish, two Tajik border guards were killed and one other was injured.  The assailants took 19 sub-machine-guns and one machine-gun and made for the Kyrgyz region of Batken.  But their vehicle turned over, and they seized a car “Mercedes”, killing its driver. 

On the Kyrgyz territory, the criminals attacked border and customs points near the village of Pungon , some 100 kilometers of the city of Batken , killing two border guards and injuring another one.  The assailants took their arms and made for the region of Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan .

As a result of joint measures taken power-wielding structures of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan the criminals were revealed today in the area some 200 kilometers of the Kyrgyz city of Batken .  At present Tajik and Kyrgyz power-wielding structures are carrying out operation to liquidate this criminal group.
