A policeman was found dead with a gunshot wound in a store room of a police station in the Lakhsh district (Rasht Valley) in the morning of January 1.

According to a version of officers of the Lakhsh police station, Sergeant Dilshodjon Ahliddinov committed suicide by shooting himself.

“According to one of versions, Ahliddinov committed suicide following family quarrel.  But it is just only one of versions.  An investigation is under way and we will report on the results later,” Umarjon Emomali, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Meanwhile, Dilshodjon’s relatives do not believe that he committed suicide, especially for family reasons.

Dilshodjon’s brother, Manouchehr Ahliddinov, told Radio Liberty’s Tajik Service on January 1 that “according to relatives, there were traces of two bullets on Dilshodjon’s chin – two wounds.”

Manouchehr says Dilshodjon could not commit suicide, especially for family reasons.

“Dilshodjon was 32.  He jot the job with the Lakhsh police station half year ago.  He was married with one child.  Dilshodjon did not have any serious family.  He owed no one was pleasant with everything.  We hope the investigation will be unbiased and find out the cause of Dilshodjon’s death,” Manouchehr told RFE/RL’s Tajik Service.
