Six avalanches hit some areas in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO)’s Shugnan and Ishkashim districts on March 1, according to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.
Three avalanches yesterday afternoon occurred on the 42nd, 43rd and 48th kilometers of the Khorog Ishkashim road in the Askar Zamirov jamoat in the Ishkashim district, a source within the Emergencies Committee told Asia-Plus in an interview.
On the same day, three other avalanches occurred on the 7th, 8th and 24th kilometers of the Khorog-Ishkashim district in the Gharibsho Shabozov jamoat in the Shugnan district, the source added.
No injured or damage was reported, according to the source.
The road has already been cleared of snow and traffic along this road has been restored.
Meanwhile, he Emergencies Committee says warmer temperatures have increased the risk of further avalanches in the mountain areas of Tajikistan, where dozens of snow-slides occurred last month.
