KHUJAND, July 18, 2008, Asia-Plus -- In the Sughd province, the largest number of corruption-related crimes have been reported in the industrial sector, according to the Sughd anticorruption directorate.
“Over the first six months of this year, 20 corruption-related crimes have been reported in Sughd’s industrial sector,” the source said, noting that 19 corruption-related crimes have been committed by local officials over the report period.
Nine corruption-related crimes have been reported in the education sector, five in local police, eight in the tax inspectorate, seven in the justice directorate, one in sub-units of the Ministry of Defense, three in the land reclamation and water resources sector, four in the banking system, and three in the agrarian sector, the source said.
In all, 121 corruption-related crimes have been detected in northern Tajikistan in January-June 2008.
