Tajik tourist police have provided assistance to several foreign tourists who got in various difficult situations, according to the Tajik Interior Ministry’s press center.  

In the early morning of October 25, they reportedly received call from the US Texas State.  The caller said that contact with foreign tourist Xavier Liberton had been lost.  The tourist was found in Rasht district (eastern Tajikistan).  He was taken to district central hospital in Gharn, the administrative center of Rasht district.     

Officers of the tourist police unit in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) reportedly provided assistance with getting electronic visa to the tourist from the United States, who ended up in border area in Ishkashim district.


Besides, officers of the tourist police unit in GBAO at the Kulma border crossing point in Murgab have provided assistance with getting electronic visa to two French nationals deported from China, the Interior Ministry/s press center said.   

In Tajikistan, a tourist police force was launched in 2018.  By president’s decree the tourist police unit was established at the Interior Ministry environment department.  The Tajik tourist police unit performs tasks related to providing security for tourists, protecting tourists’ interests, accompanying tourist groups, and informing travelers.  At the request of foreign tourists, tourist police officers can accompany them during their travels.  Six tourist police units operating across the country now have staff of totaling 68 inspectors.
