On Friday October 11, Emomali Rahmon met with Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat on the sidelines of a summit of the CIS Council of Heads of State that took place in Ashgabat the same day.    

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the parties noted that the meeting would give a stimulus to intensification of negotiations on delimitation and demarcation of the mutual border.  

Rahmon and Jeenbekov reportedly pointed to the necessity of signing by the sides of an interstate agreement on state border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and thereby strengthen the legal foundation of activity of the joint commission on delimitation and demarcation of the disputable stretches of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border.   

Tajik and Kyrgyz presidents also discussed trade and economic cooperation between their countries and a number of other issues being of mutual interest.

While in Ashgabat, Tajik leader also made a number of other bilateral meetings with CIS leaders on October 11.  

His meeting with Moldovan President Igor Dodon was reportedly focused on issues related to intensification of activities of the Tajik-Moldovan commission for trade and economic cooperation. 

Emomali Rahmon and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed issues of further expansion of strategic partnership and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and implementation of joint projects, the Tajik president’s official website said.
