On September 22, 2021, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, at the initiative of the American side, a meeting of the foreign ministers of the participating states of the "C5+1" format was held.

The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the US Secretary of State.

According to the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin took part in this meeting and made a speech.

The parties exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan.

The meeting participants discussed the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as other challenges and threats to security.

The need to strengthen cooperation and joint coordinated measures between the countries of the region was emphasized.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the heads of the foreign ministries exchanged views on topical issues of developing cooperation in the spheres of the economy, regional security, combating terrorism and extremism, overcoming the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The heads of delegations reviewed the situation in Afghanistan, spoke in favor of providing assistance to the Afghan people to prevent a humanitarian crisis, the implementation of infrastructure projects that contribute to the integration of this country into regional economic processes.

The need to consolidate the efforts of the international community in the fight against common challenges and threats to the stability and security of the countries of the region was emphasized.
