, April 21, Asia-Plus - Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov has highly appraised the level of cooperation with Russia , the United States , China and Iran .  

When pointing out the high level of Tajikistan with these countries, Rahmonov noted that Tajikistan had strategic partnership with Russia , “which opens up new opportunities for fruitful political, economic and cultural cooperation.”  "Russian investments in the energy sector of this country will total more than 2,450 million US dollars in the coming years," he said.  Rahmonov referred to the Tajik Culture Days festival in Russia and Russia Days festival in Tajikistan as "historic events for the two countries and peoples".  

Rahmonov referred to Tajik-U.S. relations as an "important political achievement."  “Our multilateral and bilateral relations are developing and cover more and more new spheres of cooperation,” said the president, “At present we should intensify interaction in addressing global threats.”  Rahmonov noted that Tajikistan came out for further expansion of cooperation with the United States in various sectors of economy, including hydropower.  Rahmonov noted that a volume of non-stings aid provided by the United States to Tajikistan in 2002-2005 amounted to some US$194 million.  

When speaking of relations with China , Rahmonov emphasized that the two countries had succeeded in settling important border problems, which had not been addressed for more than a century before.  Rahmonov specially welcomed the advent of Chinese entrepreneurs to the Tajik market and their readiness to participate in the implementation of large-scale power and road-building projects.

On the relations with Iran , the president said that a new chapter had opened in Tajik-Iranian ties.  He noted said the implementation of Anzob tunnel in the north of Tajikistan and construction of hydroelectric power plant by Iran were among the new political and economic chapters, which have opened.  Rahmonov noted that the construction of international Mashhad-Herat-Dushanbe road would further expand road communications between Tajikistan , Iran and Afghanistan .  

Expansion of friendly cooperation between Tajikistan , Iran , China and Pakistan would help restore stability and security in the region, he underlined.
