DUSHANBE , August 7, Asia-Plus - Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov yesterday evening left for India for an official five-day visit.  

State Adviser for the Tajik President for International Matters Erkin Rahmatulloyev, Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov, Finance Minister Safarali Najmuddinov, Economy and Trade Minister Hakim Soliyev, Energy Minister Abdullo Yorov, National Academy of Sciences’ President Mamadsho Ilolov, Drug Control Agency Director Rustam Nazarov, and other officials are accompanying President Rahmonov on this trip.   

According to information from presidential press service, during his stay in New Delhi President Rahmonov will hold talks with his Indian counterpart, President APJ Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and other high-ranking Indian state officials. 

Issues related to establishing long-term cooperation in the field of industry and have agreed to make efforts to achieve this goal, especially in view of the great potential for cooperation in the manufacturing sector in textiles, chemicals, building materials, mining and processing of light metals are supposed to be discussed at these talks.  Possibilities of setting up joint ventures in identified areas also will also be considered, according to the source.  The sides are also supposed to consider issues of interaction in addressing today’s challenges and threats.  Negotiations are supposed to result in singing of a number of bilateral documents.
