DUSHANBE, February 23, Asia-Plus - President Emomali Rahmonov signed a decree on February 21 establishing first deputy director of a newly-established anticorruption agency.

By president’s decree Alimurod Mahmadaliyev, formerly Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security, was appointed First Deputy Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, replacing Abdujabbor Shirinov.  

We will recall that Abdurahim Abdulhasanov and Jurakhon Kabirov were appointed deputy directors of the anticorruption agency in late January.  

The anticorruption agency was created by president’s decree of January 10.  It performs functions previously carried out by the State Financial Control Committee, Main Tax Police Directorate, Directorate for Combating Corruption and other agencies.  Rahmonov has appointed Sherkhon Salimov to head the agency. 

The agency placed under president’s direct supervision, and its head office  has a staff of 150.  The agency’s directorates in Dushanbe, Sughd and Khatlon provinces – 85 employees each, and the agency’s directorate for Gorno Badakhshan has a staff of 25.
