DUSHANBE, September 3, Asia-Plus – A delegation of Iranian MPs, members of the Iranian-Tajik friendship group within the Majlis-e Shura-ye Islami (Iranian parliament), led by Hussein Najabat arrived in Tajikistan for a five-day working visit on September 1
Bilateral parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran was the major topic of a meeting of Sadullo Khairulloyev, Speaker of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) with Iranian parliamentarians that was held in Dushanbe today.
The sides discussed further expansion cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries as well as other issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran in various fields.
During the meeting, Khairulloyev briefed Iranian MPs on history of parliamentarianism in Tajikistan and activity of the lower house of the Tajik parliament. Tajik speaker noted that Tajik parliamentarian have always felt support of their Iranian colleagues.
For his part, Najabat noted that time has come to open additional flight between Dushanbe and Tehran, which would be operated by Iranian air carrier.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting with the Tajik speaker, Hussein Najabat said that they also intend to familiarize themselves with a progress of implementation of joint projects in Tajikistan, including the Anzob tunnel.
“I think an electronic communications should be arranged between our countries,” Iranian MP said.
During their stay in Tajikistan, Iranian parliamentarians are also scheduled to hold talks with senior representatives from a number of Tajik ministries and organizations as well as visit the Tajik aluminum plant in Tursunzoda.
