DUSHANBE, October 31, Asia-Plus  -- CIS Parliamentary Assembly’s permanent commissions for harmonization of national laws, combating terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, defense and security as well as permanent commissions of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) Parliamentary Assembly launched consultations in St. Petersburg yesterday, Asia-Plus has learned from Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) for media and NGOs.  

According to him,  the Majlisi Milli members Mahmadullo Saydaliyev, Narzullo Jonov, Abdulmoumin Ulfatov, Qahhor Mahkamov, as well as deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon  (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Yusufjon Ahmadov, Mahmad Rahimov, Rano Karimova and Zuurakan Davletaliyeva have taken part in the consultations.  

A session of the board of the CIS Parliamentary Assembly was held yesterday afternoon to discuss the agenda of the 29th plenary session of the Assembly, which opened today.  Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli, and Ubaidullo Davlatov, Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon took part at the board meeting.  

Yesterday, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev also met with his Belarus counterpart Gennady Novitskiy, who heads Bealrus’ National Assembly. 

According to Saidov, in the course of the talks the two discussed a broad range of issues related state and prospects of further expansion of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.  They agreed that the parliaments of the countries should more actively use their potentials to promote further expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Belarus.
