DUSHANBE/KHUJAND, November 16, Asia-Plus  --On Thursday November 15, attending inauguration of a new cardiologic center in Khujand, President Emomali Rahmon handed over 30 ambulances to Sughd health authorities for distribution to medical facilities across the province.

The center with a total of 102 beds is placed in a new three-storey building and provided with the state-of-the-art medical equipment.  In total, more than 3.4 million somonis have been provided for construction of the clinic.

            The same day, President Rahmon familiarized himself with activity of an auxiliary boarding school in Khujand.  He handed over to the school warm clothing, computers, mini system, TV set, educational supplies and equipment for the school’s canteen. 

The auxiliary school in Khujand is house for 218 children with physical and intellectual disabilities from vulnerable families.    

            The boarding school has 20 classes, 8 studies, 6 workshops, gym and three-storey dormitory for 123 pupils.   

After that, President visited historical-architectural complex Sheikh Muslihiddin .

Yesterday, President Rahmon also addressed a meeting of regional administrators of Sughd.  The meeting was held to sum up Sughd’s economic results over the first ten years of this year.  

During the meeting it was noted that the Sughd regional budget for the report period had been over-fulfilled by 15 percent, and its revenue part amounted to 162 million somonis, which is 22 million somonis more than it was originally planned.   

            The head of state assessed positively a progress of construction of educational and medical facilities as well as water supply system in Isfara and criticized the pace of socioeconomic development in the Mastchoh district.    

            Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) Murodali Alimardnov noted that 721 million somonis have been provided in small loans in the country over the report period, and the Sughd province accounted for 35 percent (252 million somonis) of overall volume of small loans provided in January-October 2007. 

            Sherkhon Salimov, Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, speaking at the meeting touched upon the corruption situation in northern Tajikistan.  According to him, damage to property worth 15 million somonis has been revealed at the chemical plant in Isfara alone.  Three other enterprises of Isfara have concealed their incomes and have not paid taxes totaling 7.9 million somonis, the anticorruption agency director said.

President charged local authorities to take adequate measure to ensure providing the population with liquefied gas, coal, and other fuels, as well as basic food products during winter months.       

            A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the 16th session of the Shuroi Oli (Supreme Council) of the 12th convocation, which was held in Sughd on November 16, 1002, opened at the Arbob Palace in Bobojonghafurov district today.
