DUSHANBE, December 17, Asia-Plus -- A roundtable meeting to discuss a bill on an ombudsman institution in Tajikistan will be held at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on December 18.
Safarbek Soliyev, external relations advisor, UNDP Dushanbe Office said that the event, staged by the UNDP CO Tajikistan and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in cooperation with the government working group on elaborating legal documents for the establishment of the ombudsman institution in Tajikistan, is dedicated to make the public aware of a bill on establishment of the national human rights institution (Ombudsman) as well as discuss proposals and recommendations.
According to him, the meeting is part of the project to support the Tajik government in establishment of the national human rights institution.
International experts such as Ms. Pearl Eliadis, a human rights lawyer, specializing in national institutions and democratic development, and Mr. Richard Lapper, Human Rights Officer, Europe, North America and Central Asia Unit, Office of the UN High Commissioner for human Rights, will take part at the meeting.
