DUSHANBE, January 3, Asia-Plus -- A working meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office, presided over by its head Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, was held on January 2.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that Ubaidulloyev had expressed gratitude to artistes who had participated in the New Year show and appreciated the law enforcement agencies’ work on maintaining public order during the celebrations to mark the New Year holiday in the city.
Speaking at the meeting, the mayor noted that in accordance with the country’s law on the order of observing traditions and rituals, holding of events dedicated to Tajikistan’s Independence Day and New Year on the Dusti Square would be banned in the future.
On the tasks for 2008, the mayor demanded at the meeting that controlling bodies should take adequate measures to provide fire safety.
He also ordered that Dushanbe’s districts should hold meetings to discuss 2007 economic results on January 12 and the mayor’s office should hold such meeting on January 19.
Dwelling on the placement of personnel, Ubaidulloyev noted that all vacancies at the mayor’s office should be filled before February 1.
