DUSHANBE, January 28, Asia-Plus  -- A January 28 meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office, presided over by its head, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, discussed the implementation of tasks set by the head of state at the last government session.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the capital mayor, said that speaking at the meeting, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, in particular, urged to take adequate measures to ensure the implementation of the Dushanbe development support programs designed for 2008 and the provision of residential buildings with electrical power, natural gas and heat.

The mayor pointed to the necessity of enlisting the services of the Dushanbe-based scientific and technical institutions to provide efficient operation of transformers and develop alternative heat generating sources, etc.

Ubaidulloyev instructed to take adequate measure to supply heat to 305 multistory non-gasified residential buildings (it is to be noted that many high-rise residential buildings in the Tajik capital are provided with not natural-gas but electric stoves), the spokesman said.

During the meeting it was also noted that it is necessary to continue work on disconnecting consumer services centers from transformers supplying electrical power to residential buildings.

Administration of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Dushanbegaz (Dushanbe natural-gas distributor) is to take measures to speed up installation of card gas meters, which allow controlling and cutting off nonpayers, Saidov said.

According to him, at first, these smart gas meters are supposed to be installed at 4,202 blocks of flats.
