DUSHANBE, March 29, Asia-Plus  -- A March 29 cabinet meeting, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, considered more than 40 issues related to problems of socioeconomic development of the country.  

The meeting, in particular, considered a report by the unit for management of investment projects being implemented in the agrarian sector.  During the meeting, it was noted that eight investment projects totaling 531 million somonis are currently being implemented, of which 220.5 million has already been drawn.   

The mentioned projects are aimed at promoting privatization of farming units, enhancement of the agrarian sector and resolution of farmers’ cotton debts, as well as sustainable development of irrigation and development of agrarian sector’s infrastructure.  

The projects are currently being implemented in the cities of Khorog, Qurhgon Teppa, Kulob, Khujand, Panajkent, Roghun, Vahdat as well as the districts of Vanj, Tojikobod, Jirgatol, Rasht, Fayzobod, Danghara, Bokhtar, Rudaki, Varzob, Hissor, Shahrinav, Vose, Farkhor, Vakhsh, Rumi, Qumsangir, Qubodiyon, Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Shahritus, Yovon, Khuroson, Mastchoh, Ayni and Zafarobod.  

The project for land registration and cadastre is being implemented in 36 districts across the country.  

The meeting also approved a report by the agency for land management and cartography on available lands and classification of them as well as utilization of land in the country.  

The government passed a resolution determining the purchase minimum and maximum limits for 2008 and endorsed the archives development concept for 2008-2018.  

The cabinet also endorsed draft amendments to the law on state duties as well as criminal, criminal-procedural, tax, customs and administrative codes.  

The cabinet meeting also approved the strategy of development of securities market in the country. 

In a speech to his cabinet, President Rahmon also called on the government and the population to make preparations for the next autumn-winter season in advance, and gave specific instructions on modernization of the Dushanbe and Yovon heat and power plants, modernization of the Varzob hydropower plant as well as making stocks of liquefied gas, fuel oil, coal, and food products.
