DUSHANBE, April 16, Asia-Plus -- The lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the Tajik parliament (Majlisi Oli) has endorsed a bill on the right of access to information. MP Olim Salimzoda has noted that the new law is dedicated to become the next stem towards further democratization of Tajik society.
The regular sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the third convocation, presided over by is head, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on April 16.
Presenting the law, Olim Salimzoda, the deputy head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information, in particular, noted that the law provides for transparency of actions of all bodies of state power and local governments. “Any citizen has the right to apply to any body of the government for information and representatives of state institutions and other structures should provide them with information,” MP said.
Speaking to reporters, Salimzoda noted that in accordance with the law, any person now have the right to obtain any information except the information containing a state secret.
“The law provides for mechanism of obtaining information and terms for providing it,” he said.
