DUSHANBE, April 29, Asia-Plus  -- An enlarged meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office held on April 28 discussed recent president’s address to parliament.  Speaking at the meeting, the capital mayor called on heads of the Dushanbe-based enterprises and organizations irrespective of forms of property to remit 50% of the monthly wages in May and 50% of their monthly wages in June to a banking account of open joint stock company (OJSC) Roghun HPS.  

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that the mayor’s office and all municipal services seconded Ubaidulloyev’s initiative on remitting monthly wages to support completion of the construction of the Roghun HPS to support promoting completion of construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station.  

   As head of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), Ubaidulloyev also called on members of the Majlisi Milli and deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) to transfer their monthly wages to the banking account of OJSC Roghun HPS, the spokesman said.  

By this action, economically active part of the Dushanbe population could remit more than $10 million to completion of construction of the Roghun station.

“In practice, this measure will be implemented in accordance with a special resolution of the Dushanbe mayor’s under control of public commissions with enlisting the services of civil society,” Saidov said.  

 The meeting also considered issues related to ensuring provision of the population with safe drinking water and improvement of the sanitary situation in the city, as well as preparations for celebration of the 63 rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.      

 The meeting also considered issues of distribution of newspapers and magazines in the city.
