DUSHANBE, June 18, Asia-Plus  -- On Tuesday June 17, President Emomali Rahmon visited the Dushanbe heating plant to get acquainted with a progress of rehabilitation work at the station, according to presidential press service.  

More than 4.3 million somonis have been spent so far for rehabilitation of the Dushanbe heating station.  The station administration noted that rehabilitation work is going on in full swing and will be finished by October 1, when heating season starts in Tajikistan.  

After rehabilitation, the Dushanbe heating plant is expected to generate 180 megawatt of electrical power and 357 gigacalories per hour.  Such repairs have not been made to the station since 1987.    

The station administration also noted that 4,500 tons of fuel oil have been delivered to the station to this date and another more than 39,000 tons of fuel oil should be stocked in before the beginning of the heating season.  

            Senior representatives of Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding who also attended that meeting noted that rehabilitation of Western and Eastern boiler houses will allow improving heat and electricity supplies to the city.    

After visiting the Dushanbe heating station, the president held a meeting with energy authorities at Barqi Tojik’s head office to discuss measures to ensure the regular work of the country''s economy during autumn-winter 2008-2009.   

Energy and Industries Minister Gul Shearli, Barqi Tojik head Sharifkhon Samiyev, Tojikgaz (Tajik state natural-gas distributor) head Fathiddin Muhsiddinov, State Unitary Enterprise Naftu Gazu Angisht (oil product, natural gas and coal) head Emomiddin Aslov, the anticorruption agency head Sherkhon Salimov, and some other officials reported on  the work done.
