DUSHANBE, June 30, 2008, Asia-Plus  - The final sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the third convocation, presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on June 30 and the parliament will go into recess for the summer from July 1.    

Addressing the sitting, the lower chamber speaker noted that it has been the most efficient session since 2000, when bicameral parliament was established in Tajikistan.  The session conducted 18 regular sittings and adopted and ratified 200 laws and other documents.   

“The fourth session adopted 10 amendments to the constitutional laws, 24 new laws and 53 amendments to the effective laws, two codes, and 16 amendments to them,” said Khairulloyev, “Besides, the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon has passed 64 resolutions and ratified 21 agreements, two treaties, five conventions, one program and one protocol.”  

Of laws adopted by the lower house from October 1, 2007 through June 2008, 81 bills have been prepared by the president, 49 by the government, 20 by deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon and two by members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament).   

The most active deputies were Shodi Shabdolov, Safarali Rajabov, Karimjon Qodirov, Inomjon Okhunov, Abdurahmon Sharifov, Musoyabsho Nazriyev and Tojiddin Toruayev, the speaker said.   

The next fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon will open on October 1, 2008.
