DUSHANBE, July 1, Asia-Plus  -- More than 40 issues were considered at the government session that was held on June 30.  

The government, in particular, passed a resolution on the implementation of president’s decree on measures aimed at strengthening the level of population''s social security and increasing the minimum wage, public sector wage, pensions and allowances [scholarships] and endorsed the plan of actions for the second half-year of 2008, presidential press service said.

The session also heard reports of the investment irrigation development projects implementation units.  During the session, it was noted that four irrigation development support projects for a total amount of 350 million somonis (equivalent to $102 million) are currently being implemented in the country.   The projects promote improvement of water supply and development of new lands in Asht, Konibodom, Bobojonghafurov, Vahdat, Farkhor, Panj, Hamadoni and Rushan districts.  

President Emomali Rahmon demanded at the session that measures should be introduced to speed up disbursement of allocated funds, provide targeted use of them provided and preparation of reliable reports.  

On the Khatlon province, the president pointed to the necessity of development of some 21,000 hectares of waste lands requiring irrigation in the province.  

The government also endorsed the program of training of scientific personnel for the country in 2009-2015, the national strategy for improvement of children and teenagers health for the period till 2015, the fish breeding development program for 2009-2015 and the regulations on the scientific-publishing board of Tajikistan’s National Encyclopedia.  

The head of state set tasks on implementing the GBAO development program, providing the region with foodstuffs, speeding up construction of social facilities in Khorog, taking adequate preparations for the winter, constructing small power plants and stocking in fuels and foodstuffs.
