DUSHANBE, September 2, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Issues related to preparation of residential and administrative buildings and other facilities in the capital city for the winter were the focus of a September 2 working meeting, presided over by Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.
According to Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, the meeting, in particular, heard an report by the Dushanbe firefighting directorate chief Rahmon Ismoilov abut fire-prevention measures taken in the city.
Speaking at the meeting, Ismoilov noted that despite efforts undertaken by the firefighting directorate and explanatory work carried out among the population the fire situation in the city leaves much to be desired.
The mayor asked the city chief prosecutor to control inspection of facilities and sites of public assembly for violation of the fire code and compliance with fire safety requirements, the spokesman said.
