DUSHANBE, September 2, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Government considered a number of issues related to preparations for autumn-winter season the Islamic holy month of Ramadan at a September 1 meeting, presided over by President Emomali Rahmon, according to presidential press service.
Speaking at the meeting, the head of state charged relevant ministries and organizations to take adequate measures to provide the population with electricity, natural gas and other fuels during the winter months. The president also urged to provide the population with basic food products at reasonable prices during the holy month of Ramadan.
Rahmon also demanded at the meeting that work on construction of Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plants as well as central stadium in Khujand and the branch of Tajik State Teachers’ Training University in the Rasht district should be speeded up.
