DUSHANBE, September 17, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- The 16th session of the upper house (Majlisi Milli) of the Tajik parliament (Majlisi Oli) opened in Dushanbe today to consider laws adopted by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).  

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to speaker of the upper chamber, said that the session is considering changes and addenda made the country’s laws on citizenship, the Majlisi Oli, status of servicemen, state-run enterprises, and employee retirement Income security.  

Members of the Majlisi Milli are also considering a number of other laws concerning socioeconomic and cultural life of the country, the aide said.
