DUSHANBE, September 18, 2008, Asia-Plus  -- Addressing the 3rd forum of the CIS intelligentsia, President Emomali Rahmon noted that there are still many problems to be solved within the CIS area.

Among them he, in particular, named cultural-historical concepts with different approaches to assessment of the past, the present and the future.  “Such problems cause nationalism among certain circles creating conflict situations that is sometimes echoing in politics and international relations,” the Tajik head of state stressed.

He also outlined support for public, academic and educational organizations dealing with national languages and especially the Russian language as the language of international communication as one of priority areas of cooperation between the CIS states.

In this connection, President Rahmon suggested that the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund should start work on establishment of the CIS National Languages Foundation that would promote development of the national languages, support programs for the study of them, and popularize national languages, literatures and cultures.
