President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon today visited the Panj detachment in the framework of his working trip to Khatlon region where he laid a wreath in the memorial complex of Tajik and Russian border guards killed in the protection of the Tajik - Afghan border.

The President got acquainted with the work of the "Palace of Courage", the library, the assembly hall of the border detachment. He also took part in the ceremony of handing over a sewing workshop for sewing clothes for soldiers and detachment officers, a kindergarten for border guard children, an apartment building for 48 officers and their families.

The President presented state awards to the group of border guards, including medals "Courage" (Jasorat), "Brave Border Guard of Tajikistan" (Marzboni Shujoi Tojikiston) and Certificates of Honor.

The head of state was informed that in the years of Tajikistan's independence, 17 border detachments, 9 commandant's offices, 152 border patrols and 4 border guard training centers were established in the country, and hundreds of border control facilities. Only this year, 82 additional border outposts were built on the alleged dangerous directions of the state border with Afghanistan.
