A new 121-meter architectural complex, dubbed “Istiqloliyat va Ozodi” (Independence and Freedom), will be built in Dushanbe on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence that will be celebrated on September 9, 2021.  

The architectural complex will be built in the territory of the Istiqloliyat (Independence) Garden that will be laid out in an area of 29 hectares behind Avesta Hotel, Kokhi Vahdat State Complex and Teachers’ Training University, an official source at the Dushanbe Administration told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the Dushanbe Main Directorate for Architecture and Urban Development has won the contest for the best design of the mentioned architectural complex.   

Recall, the Government of Tajikistan announced the contest for the best design of the “Istiqloliyat and Ozodi” complex in January last year and the deadline for accepting the draft designs was April 30, 2018.

Both local and foreign legal and physical entities could participate in that open contest    

Led by Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda, the contest commission consisted of Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, Deputy Prime Minister Azim Obrohim, Minister of Culture Shamsiddin Orumbekzoda and some other high-ranking state officials. 

The draft designs were submitted for consideration to the Committee on Architecture and Construction under the Government of Tajikistan.  In all, 32 draft designs were submitted for consideration to the Committee on Architecture and Construction.
